Terms and conditions for explora lodges

Booking Changes

You can make changes to your booking without penalties up to 30 days before check-in, after that a penalty will be charged. In the case of the Travesía Atacama-Uyuni, changes can be made without penalty up to 60 days before check-in. The following applies for other time frames:

  • 30 days or more before the check-in date: no fines

  • 29-15 days before the check-in date: 50% fine

  • 14-0 days before the check-in date: 100% fine

Booking changes for Holidays

On Holidays dates an initial payment of 50%* will be required to confirm the reservation. You may change your booking free of fines up to 60 days before check-in. The following fines apply:

  • 60 or more days before check-in: No fines

  • 59-30 days before check-in: 50% fine

  • 29-0 days before check-in: 100% fine

HOLIDAYS

· Torres del Paine: 21.12.2023 - 1.01.2024

  • Patagonia National Park:: 24.12.2023 - 31.12.2023

  • El Chaltén: 23.12.2023 - 1.01.2024

  • Atacama: 22.12.2023 - 1.01.2024 / 09.02.2024 - 17.02.2024 (Carnaval)

Other Changes and Cancellation Considerations:

If the booking has been modified once, it cannot be cancelled and the original fine will apply. Booking cancellations or changes that include third-party services are subject to the conditions under the section “Special conditions for third-party or private services”.

*Minimum stays are required for holiday dates. Ask your travel agent.

For returns and refunds, a transaction fee will be charged depending on the payment method: 3% of the amount refunded for credit card payments and USD 25 for bank transfers.

OFFERINGS WITH SPECIAL CONDITIONS

For bookings made under special and last-minute offerings, the following booking cancelation fines apply:

  • Up until 30 days before the check-in date: 30% of total booking rate.

  • Between 29 and 0 days before the check-in date: 100% of the total booking rate.

  • Special conditions for the Rio Carnival y Tapati Festivals. During these dates, special holiday rates and conditions will apply. A minimum four-night stay is required at Explora Atacama and three- nights at Explora Easter Island.

The periods posted for these dates will be adapted based on the changes of these events. All holiday-related policies mentioned will apply.

Explora Atacama: From February 25 to March 5 (Rio de Janeiro Carnival) Explora Easter Island: From February 1 to 15 (Tapati Festival in Rapa Nui)

SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR PRIVATE OR THIRD-PARTY SERVICES THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

If third-party services have been hired at the time of booking cancellation or modification (trains to Machu Picchu, etc.), a fine equivalent to 100% will be applied to the charge made by the company to Explora.

Explorations to Machu Picchu (Sacred Valley) combine Explora with third-party services. Therefore, there are logistical restrictions that involve certain conditions when hiring this exploration:

The exploration to Machu Picchu is not available for two-night programs at Explora Sacred Valley. For travelers staying over 2 nights, the price of the Machu Picchu exploration is USD 400 for adults and USD 350 for children up to the age of 11.

If canceled, we will do everything possible so the activities are substituted for others of similar nature. All outdoor activities have a risk of personal injury and strongly suggest that our clients buy insurance that will cover such risks. We recommend insurance by www.travelguard.com or similar. Best Lodges is a brand owned and operated by Andes Journeys, LLC, a company incorporated in Montana, USA. The client liberates Andes Journeys, LLC its subsidiaries, affiliates and agents (collectively referred to herein as AJ) as well as any service providers, hotel, land and lodge owners, including Explora Chile S.A., of all obligations and liabilities due to accidents or illness while participating in the contracted itinerary.

Andes Journeys, LLC nor Explora Chile S.A. shall accept no responsibility nor will it reimburse any part of traveling services lost due to the cancellation or delay of third-party flights or transportation services, or due to other circumstances beyond Explora’s control which could be considered force majeure events. This includes but is not limited to: Cancellations and/or delays resulting from weather conditions; road conditions; fires; explosions; earthquakes; droughts; tsunamis; floods; and general strikes. Andes Journeys, LLC retains the discretion to alter any itinerary or activity if, in the sole judgment of the guide, local conditions or client’s physical abilities are judged to make the activity unsafe. Failure to comply with the guide’s decision in these matters will release the Andes Journeys from any liability for consequences, which may occur from the clients’ non- compliance. Andes Journeys, LLC and its subsidiaries, affiliates and Agents (collectively referred to herein as AJ) act only as agents for, and have no control over or responsibility for the acts or omissions of governmental agencies travel policies or restrictions, airlines, railroads, ship owners or other providers of means of transportation. AJ will endeavor to make all expeditions as enjoyable and rewarding as possible, however, the client understands and acknowledges that AJ cannot control naturally occurring phenomena, such as the weather or other such phenomena for which the clients of AJ will assume full responsibility. Guides and/or lodge staff may take pictures or videos of guests and these images may be used in promotional material without the need of consent unless guest specifically requests this material not to be used. Should illness, safety or personal reason necessitate the evacuation of one or more clients, the client(s) involved will pay the evacuation expense. AJ reserves the right: 1) to make such alterations in the itinerary of any expedition as it deems necessary or desirable under the circumstances 2) to refuse to accept or retain as a member of the party of any expedition any person at any time (in which case refund will be based on the actual cost of the unfinished portion of the expedition) 3) to pass on to expedition members expenditures occasioned by delays or circumstances beyond the control of AJ; and

4) to cancel any expedition prior to departure, in which case AJ will substitute the expedition for one of similar nature and this will constitute full settlement to the client, thereby terminating all obligations and liabilities of AJ. Baggage and personal effects, including items purchased during the expedition, are the sole responsibility of their owners at all times and no employee/agent of AJ or any affiliated entity is authorized to accept these items for storage, safekeeping or transportation. Client accepts responsibility for loss or damage of fishing equipment or personal items even if these items are handled by AJ personnel or guides. The prices quoted for any itinerary are based on foreign exchange values and/or tariffs currently in effect and are subject to change without notice. Registration for the trip and receipt of deposit indicates that our terms and conditions have been read and accepted.

Reservations: In order to secure your space, a 50% advance payment is required at the time of booking. The balance is due 60 days prior to your arrival date. Advance payments are non refundable unless the client finds a replacement guest. We strongly suggest early reservations due to limited availability of space. We also recommend cancellation insurance for your trip.

Cancellation Policy: Deposits and payments are non refundable but in case of official international travel restrictions due to: Health (covid-19), political, humanitarian or military related issues, guests will be able to reschedule your travel dates at no extra cost for the same season, with a 100% credit of all payments done to the time of cancellation plus a $200 administrative fee. For all other cancellation causes, payments are non refundable unless client finds replacement guests, in which case all payments will be refunded, minus a $200 administration fee, after replacement guests have paid in full. Subject to availability of space at the lodge at time of rebooking.
